SEAHOUSES LIFEBOAT CALLED TO TWO PERSONS IN DIFFICULTY IN YACHT TENDER
At 21:37hr on Wednesday 12 June 2019.UK Coastguard requested the launch of both Seahouses Lifeboats, to assist two males reported in difficulty in a yacht tender, trying to reach a moored yacht at Holy Island. There was a strong wind and rough sea. Local Coastguard officers on Holy Island had also been mobilised. The All Weather Lifeboat was launched and the Inshore Lifeboat was taken by road to Holy Island.
The yacht was located by the lifeboat, and the Coastguard were able to trace the tender’s location as close to the shore at Elwick, where it was in danger of being washed ashore. The Inshore Lifeboat was able to rescue the occupants and transfer them to the All Weather Lifeboat, where they were examined by the crew doctor, and deemed fit and well. They were then reunited with their yacht.
In a thank you note from the two rescued, one thanked the crew for making it possible for him to see his daughter’s 21st birthday, which might not have been the case, had they not been rescued in time.
