TWO PERSONS CUT OFF BY TIDE ON HOLY ISLAND CAUSEWAY
At 14:08hr on Saturday 28th April 2018, UK Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat, to assist two foreign nationals (Portuguese), who were trapped on Holy Island Causeway by the rising tide. Their car had stalled in the water, and they had made their way into the Refuge Box.
The Inshore Lifeboat proceeded by sea, and the two casualties were brought ashore safely on the mainland side, and handed into the care of local Coastguard Officers from Seahouses. Holy Island Coastguard Officers were also in attendance on the Island side of the Causeway. The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its trailer at the causeway, and returned to station by road.
Safe Crossing Times were from 05:45 until 12:25, and 18:15 until 00:45 (Sun).
