THREE PERSONS CUT OFF BY TIDE ON ST CUTHBERT’S ISLE AT HOLY ISLAND
At 12.59hr on Thursday 21st April 2016, Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat launched at the request of Humber Coastguard, to assist three persons cut off by the tide on St Cuthbert’s Isle, a small island at the south side of Holy Island. Local Holy Island Coastguards had attended, but as the three visitors were likely to be cut off for some considerable time, the Inshore Lifeboat was requested.
The Inshore lifeboat RNLB Peter Downes was quickly launched, and proceeded by sea to the island. On arrival, the three visitors were brought ashore onto Holy Island and landed safely. No medical assistance was required, and the three were unaware that St Cuthbert’s Isle was cut off by the rising tide.
