SEAHOUSES INSHORE LIFEBOAT CALLED TO ASSIST COLLAPSED ELDERLY MALE ON BAMBURGH BEACH
At 17.17hr on Saturday 14th July 2018, UK Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat, to assist an elderly man collapsed on the beach south of Bamburgh Castle. Local Coastguard Officers were already on scene with an ambulance crew. The casualty was some considerable distance over sand dunes, from the road and the ambulance. It was requested that the casualty be evacuated by sea, as the most practical option.
The Inshore Lifeboat was quickly launched and made best speed to the casualty’s location. The man was placed aboard the Inshore Lifeboat, and evacuated to Seahouses Harbour, and handed into the care of the ambulance crew, who had travelled there from Bamburgh. The casualty had apparently suffered from heat exhaustion. After a full check by the paramedic, he was discharged into the care of friends.
The Inshore Lifeboat then returned to station, and was refuelled and ready for service by 18:30hr that day.
