Launch Report No: 007/2011
REPORT OF TWO ADULTS FROM VEHICLE, IN WATER ON HOLY ISLAND CAUSEWAY

At 3.06pm on Sunday 01 May 2011, Humber Coastguard paged the Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat for immediate launch, following the report of two adults from a vehicle on Holy Island Causeway, who were stranded and in the water up to their knees. The Lifeboat was quickly launched and underway to the Causeway by sea. Weather conditions were quite good.

Holy Island Coastguards, who had also been mobilized, reported the two persons safely ashore at Holy island, and the Inshore Lifeboat was stood down and returned to station, being only about a mile from Seahouses harbour. This was yet another incident where a car had attempted to cross the flooded causeway contrary to the safe crossing times. The RNLI understand that this was an adult male and female but have no further information.

Safe Crossing times for today were : From 05:25 to 12:50hr and from 17:40 to 01:05 (Mon)
