YACHT REPORTED IN DISTRESS OFF BUDLE BAY
At 12.54pm on Tuesday 10 May 2011, Humber Coastguard requested the launch of the Seahouses Lifeboats, to go to the assistance of a large twin masted yacht, reported by a member of the public, to lying over on its beam, and in distress off Budle Bay.
The Lifeboat Crews were paged and the Inshore lifeboat was launched and under way, and the All Weather Lifeboat was just entering the water, when further information was received from the Coastguards. They had managed to make contact with the 40ft yacht, “Tahari 2” by radio, The skipper advised that they were not in any distress, nor did they require any assistance. The Lifeboats were recalled. The incident was a false alarm.
