ANOTHER VEHICLE AND TWO PERSONS CUT OFF ON HOLY ISLAND CAUSEWAY

At 13.53hr on Sunday 12th June 2011, Humber Coastguard requested the launch of the Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat, to go to the assistance of two persons cut off by the tide, while attempting to cross the Holy Island Causeway contrary to the safe crossing times.

The Inshore Lifeboat was quickly launched, and underway about a mile from Seahouses Harbour, when information was received that the persons were safely ashore on the mainland side, assisted by Holy Island Coastguard Rescue personnel. The Lifeboat was cancelled, and returned to station. This was the second vehicle to get stranded today, the earlier one was also assisted by Holy Island Coastguards, without any need for a lifeboat.
