YACHT IN DIFFICULTY FOR A SECOND TIME OFF SEAHOUSES
At 13.03hr on Sunday 18 August 2013, Seahouses All Weather Lifeboat had just launched to visit Beadnell Sailing Club Annual RNLI Flag Day. On leaving Seahouses Harbour, they saw the yacht which they had assisted yesterday, stationary a short distance off the harbour mouth. A speed boat which had been alongside the yacht, came over to the lifeboat and informed the coxswain that the yacht required assistance, as it was once again snagged on lobster pot ropes.
The Lifeboat crew notified Humber Coastguard of the incident and went to assist the yacht. Using knives and boat hooks from the lifeboat, the crew were able to assist the three crew aboard the yacht, and free the rudder and propeller from the ropes. The yacht was then able to continue its passage to Blyth via Amble.
The Lifeboat then continued to Beadnell for the Flag day and fund raising event.
