DISABLED BOAT WITH 2 ADULTS AND 4 CHILDREN ABOARD REQUESTS ASSISTANCE NEAR LONGSTONE ISLAND
At 14.42hr on Sunday 3rd July 2016, Humber Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses Lifeboat to go to the assistance of a RIB (rigid inflatable boat), broken down with an electrical failure, near Longstone Island with two adults and four children on board. The vessel was anchored and in no immediate danger, but requested assistance to return to its launch site at Beadnell.
Seahouses All Weather Lifeboat launched under command of duty coxswain Eric Stanwix, and was quickly alongside the casualty vessel. The situation was assessed and one adult and four children were taken aboard the lifeboat, while one adult remained on the RIB. The RIB was then taken in tow back to the launching slip at Beadnell Bay, where it was landed safely without incident with assistance from the Craster Inshore Lifeboat which had been on exercise south of Beadnell. Seahouses Lifeboat was then released and returned to station.
