Launch Report 016/2013
FEMALE ON ROCKS WITH LEG INJURY AT BAMBURGH
At 13.46hr on Wednesday 07 August 2013, Humber Coastguard requested the Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat to launch and assist ambulance and coastguard officers, attending a female with a reported serious knee injury on the rocks north of Bamburgh.
The Inshore Lifeboat located the casualty, north of the Harkess Rocks. She was a considerable distance from the road and the ambulance vehicle. The Paramedics had given morphine for pain relief, and it was decided that the only practical option was to place her in a Coastguard stretcher, and put her aboard the Inshore Lifeboat with one of the paramedics. She was then carefully transported to Seahouses Harbour by sea, where she was transferred to the awaiting road ambulance and transported to Wansbeck Hospital for treatment.
The Lifeboat personnel then returned to station. The casualty's identity will not be released by the RNLI, due to patient confidentiality. It is believed that she was on holiday in the area. Her condition was not life threatening, or as serious as first thought.
