News Release 020/2019
REQUEST TO TRANSPORT AMBULANCE CREW TO HOLY ISLAND.
At 15:27hr on Tuesday 13 August 2019, Seahouses Lifeboat was requested to convey an ambulance crew to Holy Island, to treat a female with abdominal pain. The causeway was closed by the tide. The Holy Island Coastguard Team had also gone to the assistance of the female, and were bringing her to the harbour pier at Holy Island.
Seahouses All Weather Lifeboat was launched, and stood by at Seahouses harbour, awaiting the arrival of the ambulance. An ambulance arrived from the nearby Belford station, and the crew were taken aboard the lifeboat. One of the lifeboat crew was also a doctor. At Holy Island, the lifeboat was met by the local Coastguard Team, and the ill female was assessed by the paramedics and the crew doctor, and transferred to the lifeboat. She was then conveyed back to Seahouses aboard the lifeboat, where she was then taken by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
The Lifeboat was then returned to its carriage by 17:15hr that day.
