Launch Report No: 027/2011
PERSON FALLEN OVER CLIFF NEAR SEAHOUSES GOLF CLUB
(Fatality)
At 14.43hr on Saturday 6th August 2011, Humber Coastguard requested the immediate launch of Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat to assist local Coastguard Rescue Officers and Ambulance Paramedics. A female had fallen over the cliff near Seahouses Golf Club, and was in a difficult place to reach. There was a request for additional medics at the scene.
The Inshore Lifeboat was quickly launched with additional medic trained crew aboard. On arrival, they joined the emergency service personnel at the scene, including an air ambulance. The lady was deceased, and it was decided to extricate her by sea, using the Inshore Lifeboat and an RNLI rigid stretcher. She was brought to Seahouses and transferred to a road ambulance.
Local Police are carrying out an enquiry. It is believed that the casualty was a visitor to the area, and some family members were with her when the incident occurred. The RNLI have no further information, and any media enquiries should be directed to Northumbria Police.
This was a tragic and harrowing incident, and Seahouses RNLI Lifeboat Personnel would like to extend their deep condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, and our thoughts are with them at this sad time.
