SEAHOUSES LIFEBOATS CALLED TO ASSIST A SWIMMER AND LATER THAT DAY, TO 2 ANGLERS CUT OFF BY TIDE
SEAHOUSES LIFEBOATS WERE CALLED OUT TWICE ON SATURDAY 12TH NOVEMEBER 2011. At 10.53hr on Saturday 12th November 2011, Humber Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses Lifeboat, to assist a swimmer reported in serious difficulty in Beadnell Bay. It was agreed that both lifeboats should be launched. As the lifeboats were proceeding to the casualty’s reported location, further information was received that father of the casualty (a female swimmer), had swum out to her location, and with the assistance of a jet ski, had managed to get her safely to shore. Once this was confirmed by Humber Coastguard, both lifeboats were released and returned to station. The RNLI have no further information about the casualty’s condition.
Then again at 16.02hr that day, Humber Coastguard again requested the launch of Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat, following a report that two anglers, who had been cut off by the rising tide while fishing on the outer breakwater of Seahouses Harbour, were trying to wade through ashore rough water near the old powder hut on the south side of Seahouses Harbour. The Inshore Lifeboat crew were paged and quickly launched. The two anglers were picked up and brought safely ashore, where they were handed into the care of Local Coastguard Rescue Officers on the shore. The Inshore Lifeboat then returned to station. The anglers did not require any medical assistance.
