With adequate water depth, the Mersey Lifeboat can launch from the carriage, from the concrete slip into the harbour. However, at very low tides, the lifeboat has to be taken to the harbour mouth to find sufficient water to launch. This can add some 10 or 15 minutes to the usual 5 - 8 minute launch time. But this also means that this Lifeboat can launch at any state of the tide.
