SEAHOUSES LIFEBOAT CALLED TO ASSIST AMBULANCE TO REACH UNCONSCIOUS PERSON AT HOLY ISLAND, IN NEED OF URGENT MEDICAL CARE
At 17.02hr on Sunday 17th June 2018, UK Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses All Weather Lifeboat, to assist the North East Ambulance Service to reach an unconscious person, in need of urgent medical care, on Holy Island. The Causeway was closed by the tide. As the ambulance was dispatched was from a nearby Ambulance Station, it was directed to Seahouses Lifeboat Station.
On arrival of the ambulance, the paramedic was taken aboard the lifeboat and transported to Holy Island, where the local coastguard team escorted him to the casualty’s location. The lifeboat them returned to station, as the casualty could be taken to hospital by road as the causeway cleared, once the ill person had been stabilised by the paramedic.
